Description

Pope's Cottage is a single cottage dated 1796, located in Corscombe. It features dressed stone walls and ashlar quoins, topped with a thatch roof that has stone gable-copings. The cottage has renewed 20th-century brick stacks at both the left and right gables and is two storeys high with attics. The symmetrical facade includes three windows with three-light square stone mullions, plain recessed architraves, and separate labels above. The windows have iron casements dating from the 19th century. The front door is centrally located and has a similar architrave, a pulvinated frieze, and a moulded flat cornice. The door itself is a 20th-century wooden design with four panels and two top lights. At the rear, there is a C19 outshut under a continuous thatch roof.

To the north, 20 yards away, is the front garden wall, made of rubble-stone with ashlar stone coping and ramped at the west end. It features stone ball-finials at the pedestrian gate entrance in the center.
