Description

Box Cottage and Gards Cottage are a pair of attached cottages located in Tarrant Monkton, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with additions and alterations from the 18th century. The cottages are constructed from a mix of materials, including part timber-frame, coursed flint and brick, and sections that are rendered and colour-washed. They feature a thatched roof with brick stacks at either end and have a mix of two and one-and-a-half storeys. The front of the cottages displays irregular fenestration, with two-light cast-iron casements that include glazing bars. The rear has 20th-century casements with leaded lights. A central plank door is set within a thatched porch.
