LYTCHETT MINSTER DORCHESTER ROAD (north side) Entrance gates and gate piers to South Lytchett Manor, 700 metres east of South Lytchett Manor

GV II

Gate piers, overthrow, gates, linking walls and railings at entrance of drive to South Lytchett Manor (qv) c.1905. Architect W D Caröe.

Pair of square section stone gate piers with panelled sides, moulded plinths and caps, concave shaped tops and ball finials. Low walls, curved on plan and with moulded caps, link these to an outer pair of piers, similar in design but without the tops and finials. Ornamental iron gates with overthrow capped with iron figure of owl. Above the walls, ornamental iron railings with openwork piers with moulded caps and urn finials.
