Description

BELL STREET 1. 5190 (west side) No 16 (Stone Court) SZ 0178 3/16 II GV

  1. Probably C18. L-shaped on plan. Main section set back from street has Purbeck Stone walls and roof. Brick stack with projecting stone capping. Two storeys and attics. Ground floor has a modern door and a double-hung sash window under one arch. One double-hung sash window on first floor above this. North of the door is a 2- storeyed canted bay window with double-hung sashes with glazing bars. One dormer to attic with hipped roof and casement window. Projecting stone band course between ground and first floors. The southern section, adjoining the road, is of 2 storeys, the lower storey of Purbeck Stone, the upper storey of brick, with Purbeck Stone quoins. Slate roof. Brick stack. Ground floor has a 2-light double-hung sash window under a stone arch. First floor has 2 double-hung sash windows. Stone boundary wall to street. RCHM Monument 58.
