Description
These are two attached cottages, dating back to around the 16th century, with significant alterations in the 18th century. The cottages have rubble stone walls that have been painted, and a thatched roof. Brick stacks are visible on the shared wall to the left and the right. The cottages are two storeys high, with three windows overall. The windows are wooden casements, with two and three panes of glass and glazing bars, wooden sills, and lintels, though the windows themselves are replacements from the 20th century. The front door of number 76 is a plank and muntin door, also a 20th-century replacement, while the front door of number 77 is a plank door set within a wooden frame, and is also a 20th-century replacement. Inside, the roof trusses reveal remains of a jointed-cruck construction, with one set of through-purlins that have been renewed, and ash-pole rafters. The ceilings are made of reed and plaster.
