Description

Chamberlaynes Mill Farmhouse is a house with an attached water-mill, dating from the mid-19th century, although the mill may be older. The building has an L-shaped plan and features brick walls laid in Flemish Bond with burnt headers. It has a low-pitched hipped slate roof and brick end stacks, and is two storeys high. At the front, there is a 20th-century glazed verandah and a central entrance door. The ground floor includes one French door and one double-hung sash window with a central glazing bar, both set under a gauged brick arch. The first floor has three similar sash windows. The attached mill, located to the south-west of the house, also has brick walls and a slate roof, and is two storeys with an attic. It features casement windows with cast iron lights and has loft doors in the gable end at both the first floor and attic levels. There is an added car port in the angle between the house and the mill, and the mill machinery is still present.
