Description

This is a pair of houses, likely dating from the early 19th century, although it appears to be a remodelling of an earlier building. The external walls are rendered, and the roof is covered with asbestos slate. A brick chimney stack is present. The two-storey main elevation is divided into two sections by flat, reeded Tuscan pilasters. The northern section features a flush panel door, and two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, with three similar windows above. The southern section now has the main entrance, a six-panel flush panel door with an ornamental fanlight, set within a classical surround featuring a pediment supported by brackets and pilasters. Two later-inserted windows flank the entrance. The ground floor also has two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, and the first floor has two similar windows. It is said that No. 2 incorporates the remains of an earlier cob wall building, which extends into the adjoining No. 1 to the left.
