Description
The kitchen garden walls and entrance gate, located about 100 metres east of the Manor House, date from the 18th century. The walls form a large rectangle, measuring approximately 100 metres by 50 metres, and are constructed of ashlar and rubble-stone, topped with coping-stones. The entrance gate on the west side features 16th-century polygonal buttresses that were brought from Clifton Maybank. These buttresses have concave sides and display different mouldings at each stage, including wave, bowtell, bracket, and panel designs, topped with onion-dome finials. The two-centred doorway has moulded jambs and is adorned with a carved stone eagle on a plinth.
