Description
Church Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to the early 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as later modifications. It is constructed from squared, coursed rubble and timber framing, topped with a tiled roof that has brick stacks; the roof is hipped on the left and gabled on the right, with a pantiled addition on the right side. The layout features a three-room cross-passage plan, with the cross passage located at the rear of the stack.
The building has two storeys and a four-window range. On the ground floor to the left, there is a sash window from around 1800, which has glazing bars. To the right, there are three and four-light wooden casements with leaded lights, and this window pattern is repeated on the upper floor. To the left of the stack, there is a six-flush panel door from around 1800, featuring reeded panels. The doorway is adorned with scrolled pilasters and a moulded flat hood supported by scrolled brackets. The north wall displays exposed timber framing.
Inside, the farmhouse contains several notable features, including deep chamfered ceiling beams, 17th-century linenfold panelling, and a shouldered doorway from the 16th century.
