Description

No. 2 Church Lane is an attached cottage, originally two separate cottages, dating from the 18th century and restored in the 20th century. The building features rubblestone and cob walls that are partly rendered and painted, topped with thatch roofs that have block ridging. There are brick stacks located at the left party wall, two on the ridge, and one at the right-hand gable. The cottage is 1½ storeys high and has four windows, which include two and three light wood casements with horizontal glazing bars that have been renewed, as well as one Yorkshire sliding sash window on the left side at ground level from the 19th century. The roof also includes four 2 light eyebrow dormers.

The front door, which is the current entrance for No. 2, is located at the right center and consists of a plank with one lozenge light, dating from the 19th century. There is a thatch porch canopy supported by two wooden posts. A door leading to the former No. 4 is situated towards the left end; it is a plank door with one glazed light in a wooden frame, also from the 19th century, but is not currently in use. Inside the former No. 4, there are recessed panel cupboards beside the fireplace, which have rounded heads and a side cupboard, along with window shutters.
