Description
Nos 36 and 37 on West Street are two attached cottages built in the mid-19th century. They feature rubble-stone walls with a projecting plinth and a slate roof with gable ends and boxed eaves. The cottages have been fitted with rebuilt brick stacks at the left-hand gable, the centre ridge, and the right-hand gable.
The buildings are two storeys high and have a total of four windows. The ground floor windows are three-light cast-iron casements with glazing bars, while No 37 has a single-light version. The ground floor openings are topped with segmental brick arches. The first floor features two-light cast-iron casements with wooden cills.
The front doors are located towards each end of the cottages; No 36 has a 20th-century plank door with one glass light, and No 37 has a flush-panelled door with two top lights. At the rear, there are continuous outshuts.
