Description

No 9 West Street is an attached house dating from the early 19th century, with a possibly earlier core. It features coursed and dressed ironstone, along with grey limestone walls on the upper storey, and has a slate roof with brick stacks at each gable end. The house is two storeys high and has three windows, which are three-light wooden casements with wooden cills and dressed stone voussoirs, arranged in a continuous band. To the left of the centre is a plank door with one glass light, dating from the 20th century. Above the front door is a fragment of cusped tracery with a shield of arms, which is a 15th-century piece reset from Abbotsbury Abbey. The attached farm office at the west end is not of special interest.
