Description

No 24 is a detached cottage dated 1857, marked with a "B" and a crown, built for the Duke of Bedford estate. The cottage features rubble-stone walls and a slate roof that is gabled to the front left of center and hipped on the right side, with low-pitched roofs. It has two storeys and three windows; the left bay has three-light cast-iron casements with cast-iron glazing bars arranged in a lozenge pattern, while the other windows are two-light casements of the same design and material, all with original glass. Stone voussoirs and stone cills are present throughout the building. The front door, located to the right of center, is a flush-panelled door with a square head from the mid-19th century. There is a stone porch with an elliptical head and a low gabled roof above it. The side and rear walls also have cast-iron casements. An attached stabling area is included in the rear range.
