Description

This is a group of four attached estate cottages, built in 1865 for the Duke of Bedford's estate. They are constructed of coursed rubble stone with dressed stone quoins and window surrounds. The roofs are slate, hipped towards a central projecting bay, and include stone stacks at the ridges and on the front central ridge. The cottages have two storeys and six windows in total, with two-light cast-iron casements featuring glazing bars. The windows have dressed stone voussoirs and stone cills. Plank doors with fanlights are located at the north and south ends, and within the angles of the central bay, each with a stone-built porch featuring gabled and hipped slate roofs. Ducal coronets are positioned over the north and south gable ends.
