Description

No. 40 West Street is a detached cottage dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It features plastered walls and a mid-20th century tiled roof with brick end stacks. The building is two storeys high. The central entrance consists of a glazed door set in a timber surround, which is adorned with simple reeded pilasters and a flat hood. On the ground floor, there are two double-hung sash windows with vertical glazing bars, while the first floor contains three similar windows. At the rear, there is a two-storeyed wing made of brick, topped with a tiled roof that includes some fish-scale tiling. Additionally, there is a single-storey extension added in the 20th century.
