Tadnoll Mill And Mill House Including Outbuilding At Rear

Tadnoll Mill and Mill House, including an outbuilding at the rear, is likely an 18th-century structure that was enlarged to the west in the 19th century, as indicated by a datestone from 1841. The mill features brick and stone walls with a pantiled roof and a brick stack. It is two storeys high with an attic. The north elevation has two ledged doors and two built-up arched openings on the ground floor, along with two fixed timber windows. The first floor has two timber windows and a brick buttress. The west end wall includes a large built-up opening on the ground floor and one casement window with glazing bars on the first floor. The south elevation has a large opening for the wheel pit on the ground floor, a casement window with glazing bars, and an attic half-dormer with a gabled roof and casements. The mill has an undershot water wheel with wooden paddles and some remnants of sluices. Internally, the roof structure has been renewed, and there is no machinery except for the wheel.

The attached Mill House is likely from the 19th century, with rendered walls and a slate roof, featuring brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys tall. The south elevation includes a single-storey lean-to with a tiled roof and a single-storey gabled extension with stone walls and a tiled roof. The north elevation has a modern ledged door, three casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, and two similar windows on the first floor. The east elevation features a modern ledged door, two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, and three similar windows on the first floor. There is a detached outbuilding to the west of the main block, currently used as garages, with brick and flint walls and a slate roof, featuring modern garage doors faced with corrugated iron. The property is enclosed by brick and stone boundary walls with tiled capping, forming an attractive group.
