Description
Dunster Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century and later. It features cob walls that are rendered and has a thatched roof that is hipped at both ends. The building is 1 and a half storeys tall and has two renewed brick stacks, one located at the center and the other at the apex of the left hip. There are four windows, which are 'Yorkshire' sliding sashes with glazing bars, mostly consisting of two lights, with one window having three lights. The north wall exhibits a significant curve made of cob. To the right of the farmhouse is a former stable that shares the same roof but has a structural wall separating it from the house. The left end wall is made of brick, originally built in the 18th century in Flemish bond, while the right end wall is constructed of coursed stone rubble. The front door is a plank door located to the right of center on the south wall of the house.
Inside, there are deep-chamfered ceiling and wall beams of narrow section, dating to the early 18th century. The former stable features mid-chamfered beams with filleted, tongued stops from the 17th century. The roof is of jointed cruck construction with slip-tenons from the 16th century, and three sets of crucks are visible.
