Description

The Old Rectory House is a detached house that was formerly a rectory, built around 1840. It features a rubble or rendered exterior with a slate roof. The house is oriented south, with its back facing the road, and consists of two sections; the original part was extended by one bay to the west in the later 19th century, and there is a single-storey addition from the 20th century at the back.

The building has two storeys and an attic, with a total of four windows on the front. The later section includes large paired 4-pane sash windows set in a wide central mullion box, while the original range has two 2-light hipped dormers above modified 16-pane sash windows on the first floor and a 4-pane sash window on the ground floor, flanking a pair of French doors topped by a transom light. There are brick gable stacks, along with an additional stack on the later section.

The left gable is plain with a single doorway, while the right gable, made of rubble, features a 4-pane sash window with a segmental head and a smaller light above a box porch that covers a flush panelled door with a 3-pane transom light set in panelled reveals. The rear wall, also in rubble, has two 3-light early casement windows on the first floor, one with a transom and the other with leaded glass, as well as an added external eaves stack. The interior has been partly inspected and retains few original fittings.
