Description
The Eastbury Hotel, dating from the mid to late 18th century, is a two-storey building with a five-window red brick front. It features string courses at the cill levels and a decorative modillion cornice. The roof is slate with one box dormer. The building has sash windows, some of which have lost their glazing bars, and the central first-floor window is distinguished by a stone architrave, projecting voussoirs at the top, and a flat stone balustrade below the cill. The doorway is adorned with voluted console brackets that support a modillion cornice, and it includes a fanlight and a wrought iron scraper. Surrounding the property are late 18th to early 19th century area railings, which have uprights with spear-shaped finials and standards topped with urn finials. The Eastbury Hotel, along with St Swithin's Cottage, an outbuilding to the southwest, and Nos 1 and 2 Eastbury Cottages, forms a group of related buildings.
