Description

The houses at 11 and 13 North Street date from the mid-18th century. They are built of red brick with grey brick detailing, including horizontal chains and alternating grey headers in the brick arches. The roof is tiled, with stone slates above the eaves, and there are red brick stacks. The houses are two storeys and have attics. Overhanging brick courses are visible at the eaves. There are four ranges of sash windows with glazing bars, set within flush frame surrounds. A window on the first floor is now blocked. The front door consists of six panels, four of which are fielded and two are glazed, with reveals. A doorcase features reeded pilasters, bracket supports, a moulded hood with a panelled underside, and two decorative lozenges between the brackets. An identical doorway is set between two modern, segmental bow additions, linked by a flat hood. Nos 5 to 17 (odd) form a visual group together.
