Warehouse Adjoining Hope Chapel

The building is a warehouse dating from the mid-19th century, located adjacent to Hope Chapel on Trinity Street in Weymouth. It is constructed of rubble with a slate roof and features a long, multi-bay design with a plain gable facing the street, extending back into the slope towards Herbert Place.

The exterior consists of three storeys and a loft. The front has a gable opening that has been blocked with brickwork above wide loading openings. The second floor has brick jambs and a segmental head, while the first floor features square-headed openings with stone jambs. The ground floor has a wider double door with a brick segmental head and stone jambs. To the right, there is a smaller pair of doors in a similar opening, and a small two-light casement has been inserted at the second floor. The right flank of the building has three two-light casements and three plank-shuttered openings at eaves level, along with a series of two-light openings that are half casement and half shuttered at the first floor, with a plain ground floor. The left side has eight three-light small-pane casements set flush at the eaves. The rear gable is made of plain rubble and is mostly below street level.

Inside, the warehouse features a series of closely spaced transverse beams. At the top of the staircase on the north side, there is some 17th-century panelling, which is presumed to have come from another location. This building is simple yet impressive, situated in an area with growing tourist potential, and has large, clear internal spaces on the upper levels that were unused at the time of the survey.
