Description

This public house, together with its rear outbuildings, dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. The front is constructed of coursed granite, while the rest of the building is of painted rubble. It has a concrete tile roof with gable ends. The building has a double-depth plan and was slightly remodelled in the 20th century. Originally, the left-hand side contained a parlour, while the right flank contained a wider kitchen/living room, with an entrance hall leading to a rear stair hall. Between the stair hall lay a back kitchen on the left and a likely pantry on the right. A 19th-century outbuilding adjoins the rear on the left. The two-storey front has a regular 4-window arrangement on its south-east elevation. A doorway is located beneath the second window from the left. The windows are 12-pane horned sashes, although the third window from the left on the first floor is blocked. A reused chamfered lintel is visible above a blocked opening in the left-hand wall, and two hollow chamfered arch stones are above a central niche in the outbuilding, which may have served as former stables. The interior remains uninspected.
