Description

The Ancient House is a house located on Church Street in Liskeard, likely dating from the 17th century. The building is rendered over rubble and features a steeply-pitched asbestos slate roof with a shallow-depth plan. It stands two storeys high with a nearly symmetrical three-window front. The first floor has early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows on the left and right, while the ground floor has later horned sashes with glazing bars, including paired sashes in wider openings. A wide open gable-ended porch is supported by 17th-century chamfered granite piers, and there is an early 19th-century six-panel door with glazed top panels. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have been remodeled in the 20th century.
