Description

The War Memorial in Hayle, located on Commercial Road, is a structure from the early 20th century dedicated to commemorating those who died in the First World War (1914-1918). It is made of dressed granite and features an octagonal sarcophagus set on a stepped base. Above the sarcophagus is a tapered cross shaft topped with a Celtic cross. The chest of the sarcophagus has a moulded plinth and cornice, with recessed inscribed panels on alternate sides. The other sides have panels inscribed with the names of those who died in the Second World War (1939-1945).
