Description

A pair of houses, dating from the mid-19th century, with associated front garden walls and gate piers. The front of the houses is stuccoed, while the rest of the exterior is painted rubble. The roof is covered with asbestos slates, featuring projecting eaves. Brick chimneys are located over the party wall, and at the hipped end on the right. Cast-iron ogee gutters are present.

The houses are arranged with a plan consisting of a pair, each with one room wide and two rooms deep, plus later 19th-century wings extending at right angles to the rear on both sides. The reception rooms are at the front, with entrance halls between them leading to rear stair halls.

The north-west front is symmetrical with four windows and a pair of doorways in the middle. The detailing includes stuccoed plinths, rusticated quoin strips, and flat arches above the doorways. The original front doors are four-panel affairs with overlights, and the windows are original 12-pane hornless sashes. The rear elevation features original hornless sashes with glazing bars to the larger right-hand wing, and one original stair window with coloured marginal panes. The interior has not been inspected, but may retain original features and joinery.

The front garden is enclosed by rubble garden walls with a ramped coping. There are entrances aligned with the doorways of the houses. The walls have stuccoed panels at the front, and a lower front wall with a plinth and plain stucco above. The gate piers are three round-headed granite monoliths.
