Description
The powder house at Ponsanooth, dating from around the mid-19th century, served as a gunpowder store for the former Kennal Vale Gunpowder Works. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends. The building has a rectangular plan, with a doorway located in the middle of each gable end, aligned from southwest to northeast. It is a single-storey structure with simple, unaltered elevations. The only openings are the doorways at each gable end and small ventilators in the side walls, with ledged doors. Inside, the interior remains simple and unaltered, preserving the original roof structure. This powder house is one of a group of three identical buildings.
