Description
The bridge over the River Kennal, built around 1844, is constructed from granite rubble with some large dressed monoliths. It features a two-span design with a pointed cutwater on the upstream side. The bridge employs simple lintel construction and has a high rubble parapet.
Historically, Kennal Vale is known for its well-preserved gunpowder works, which opened in 1812 and expanded in 1844, showcasing a complete range of components from that period. This bridge is a notable example of vernacular engineering, built in connection with the expansion of the works after 1840.
