Description

No. 4, Broad Street is a town house, originally dating from the 17th century and remodelled in the early 18th century. It is now used as a shop. The house is constructed of rubble and rendered to the front, with a steep dry slate roof and two gabled rear lateral rubble stacks. It follows a double-depth plan with later rear wings. The two-storey front has a four-window range, featuring 20th-century three-light casement windows. The ground floor includes a late 19th or 20th-century four-pane horned sash window to the left, a doorway with an open pediment and torus-moulded architrave, consoles and entablature, and a large 20th-century shop front to the right. Inside, features include an early 18th-century staircase with twist splat-balusters.
