Description
No. 4 St Thomas Street is a town house that has been adapted for use as a shop. It dates from the 18th century and was refronted in the mid-19th century. The exterior features a rendered finish on stone and a steep asbestos slate roof with projecting front eaves, along with a rear lateral brick stack. The building has a shallow-depth plan and stands three storeys high, with a three-window range that includes late 19th-century four-pane horned sash windows. The ground floor is occupied by a full-width late 20th-century shop front, which has fairly small square panes, end pilasters, and a 20th-century door with an overlight on the left. Inside, it is said to have a semicircular winder stair similar to that found in No. 2 St Thomas Street.
