Description
The engine house, boiler house, and two chimneys at East Calstock Mine are late 19th-century mine buildings constructed of slatestone rubble. The engine house has a rectangular plan and features a bob wall on the southern gable end, which includes a round arch and a lower round-arched opening, along with window openings on the sides. Inside the engine house, there is a cylinder bedstone.
To the north of the engine house is a circular, tapered chimney with a brick cornice, while the southern chimney is also circular and tapered but constructed solely from rubble. This southern chimney is accompanied by a single-storey building that includes a doorway and window openings.
In 1865, the mine housed a 42-inch pumping engine and a 24-inch whim engine. East Calstock Mine was known for its copper production and is situated to the west of the East Cornwall Mineral Railway.
