Description
This building is an outbuilding, likely used as a wash house and privy, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble with dressed granite quoins and features an asbestos slate roof with gable ends and red clay ridge tiles. A large square granite rubble stack is located at one corner, although the shaft may have been truncated.
The structure is a small, single-storey rectangular building that is open to the roof. It has a doorway in the north-east gable end and a substantial stack in the corner. The privy is located at the opposite south-west end and has a separate external entrance, being only half the depth of the building. The north-east gable end, which faces the house, has a plank door to the right and the massive stack to the left. There are no window openings.
Inside, the building is open to the roof. In the east corner, there is a stack with a fireplace that has unchamfered granite jambs and lintel. The roof is supported by 20th-century nailed softwood trusses.
