Description

SW 72 NE CONSTANTINE

9/120 Retaining wall including larder 26/08/87 and dog-kennel immediately north of Treworval Farmhouse

GV II

Retaining wall with an integral larder and dog-kennel. Circa early to mid C18. Granite rubble retaining wall to small yard behind Treworval Farmhouse qv. At the right hand end an unchamfered round granite arch doorway to a small square chamber under the ground with niches in the internal walls and a small arched window in the front. This was presumably a cold store for food or larder. At the left end of the retaining wall an opening at ground level to a small chamber that must have been a dog-kennel. The row of small square niches above to the left may have been hen roosts because they are too small to be bee-boles.
