Description

Bosvathick Lodge is a late 19th-century lodge, likely dating to around 1895 when Bosvathick House was extended. It stands at the entrance to Bosvathick House. The lodge is constructed of granite ashlar with rusticated granite quoins. It has a pyramidal hipped roof covered with fishscale slates and deep eaves, with pierced red clay ridge tiles along the short ridge. A substantial ashlar stack with a cornice and weathered cap sits at the apex of the roof.

The lodge has a double-depth plan, likely comprising four rooms arranged in two bays wide and two bays deep. The entrance is located on the left side, and a kitchen wing extends to the rear, away from the drive. The symmetrical front facade, facing the drive, features two windows. These are rusticated, round-headed windows with small keystones and 19th-century 2-light casements with Y-shaped glazing bars at the heads. The return facing the road has a gabled porch towards the left (rear), with bargeboards and rusticated granite jambs; a small round-headed window is present on one side of the porch. This side also has a 19th-century six-panel door. The rear wing is distinguished by a red brick stack at its gable end and a glazed side door. The interior was not inspected.
