Description
The former Hayle Brewery Office, built in 1873, is a building of group value. It is constructed of pebbledash on stucco and painted rubble, with scantle slate roofs. The main roof is hipped, with projecting eaves over the central two-storey block, a gable end over the single-storey wing to the right, and a monopitch roof sloping down to the front of the single-storey wing on the left. A brick chimney sits over the right-hand side of the two-storey part. The building has a rectangular plan, comprising a central two-storey block with a room and a room at either side in single-storey wings. The front of the two-storey block has two windows on the upper floor, flanked by single-storey wings, each with a doorway at the front (the right-hand doorway is blocked). Original two-pane sashes remain on the first floor, while the ground floor openings of the main block now have later horned sashes. The interior has not been inspected, but is reportedly unusually complete and unaltered since the 19th century. Historical information was taken from notes supplied by Hayle Town Council.
