Description

25 Fore Street is a probable former market house, originally built in the early 19th century and refronted in 1865 by Henry Rice. The building is constructed of rubble with granite dressings and features a triangular pediment with modillions at the front, showcasing a classical style. It has two storeys plus an attic and a three-window range. The windows are round-headed twelve-pane horned sashes, and there is a mid-floor string above a 20th-century shop front. Remains of an arch springing on the left side suggest that the original design included three arches on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
