Description

The Pipewell, also known as the Well of St Martin, is a holy well head located on Well Lane in Liskeard. It is likely a mid-19th century rebuilding of a late medieval structure. The well features rubble walls and rubble voussoirs supporting pointed dressed stone arches on two levels. There are wide granite steps leading down from the outer arch to a granite trough, which is filled by four lead spouts. The site is also adorned with mid-19th century cast-iron gates that have fleur-de-lis finials. Beyond the gate, there is a pointed-arched vault with three chamfered elvan ribs.
