Description
The Blue Hills Engine House is a disused pumping beam engine house dating from around the mid-19th century. It features walls made of killas rubble and has brick arches over two of its openings, with timber lintels above the others. The building has a rectangular plan and retains its full-height walls, although there is no surviving machinery inside.
The exterior consists of three storeys with unaltered elevations. The front wall on the north-west side includes a central round-arched doorway. The rear wall has a wide round-arched cylinder doorway and two small openings above it. The side walls have irregularly placed openings that are spanned by wooden lintels. This structure is part of the Blue Hills mining area.
