Description
There are two statues located on terraces 100 meters to the south of Newton Ferrers House. These statues, likely from the 18th century, are made of lead and stand on tall plinths made of Portland stone. Both figures are dressed in classical Roman attire; one appears to be preparing to throw a spear, while the other seems ready to draw a sword. The statues are illustrated in the publication 'Newton Ferrers, the seat of Sir Robert Abdy, B.T' by Christopher Hussey in Country Life from December 17, 1938, as well as in the second edition of The Buildings of England, Cornwall by N. Pevsner and E. Radcliffe from 1970.
