Service Building In The Stable Yard About 10 Metres South Of Lanhydrock House

This service building, located in the stable yard about 10 metres south of Lanhydrock House, was originally designed as accommodation for grooms, a tack room, and a hay loft. It dates from around 1882 and is likely the work of architect Richard Coad. The building is constructed from granite ashlar and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends that have raised coped verges. The gable end stacks are topped with embattled cornices.

The layout includes accommodation at the left end, arranged in a two-room plan heated from the gable and stack on the left. To the right, there are storage rooms on the ground floor and a hayloft above, with a single-storey integral outshut at the rear. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front. On the right side, there is a four-light chamfered granite window with a hood mould, along with a door and double doors, both also with hood moulds, and a first-floor loading door. Off-centre to the left, a ramped access leads to a plank door with a hood mould, and there is a two-light chamfered granite window to the left. The first floor features two gabled dormers, each with a two-light chamfered granite window and a dripstone. The left end has double doors with a segmental arch at cellar level, while the ground floor on the left has a single window with a hood mould. The right end includes two two-light casements on the first floor. At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to that runs the length of the ground floor, with a single light at first floor and a small gabled dormer featuring a two-light chamfered granite window. The interior has not been inspected.
