Description
This building, located at 1 Fore Street in Lostwithiel, is an 18th-century house that likely incorporates part of the Duchy Palace at the rear. The front of the house was altered in the mid-19th century, with additional changes made in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with gable ends, although the stacks have been removed.
The house has a central entrance leading to the principal rooms on the front right and left. The room on the right has been converted into a shop since the mid-19th century. The building is two storeys high and has three windows. The ground floor includes a central panelled and glazed door with a gabled hood, a four-pane sash window to the left, and a boxed shop front to the right, which has a pitched roof over the bay and a 12-pane light with toplights at the front. On the first floor, there is a central blind window with a 12-pane sash window on both the right and left. The left side of the building features a 20th-century window at the attic level. The interior has not been inspected.
