Description

No 3 Fore Street is a house that has been converted into a restaurant. It dates from the 18th century and may include part of the Duchy Palace at the rear. The building was altered in the mid-19th century to function as a shop, with some additional changes made later. It is constructed of rubble, which is rendered and lined out, and features a hipped slate roof with decorative crested ridge tiles and no chimneys on the front range.

The entrance is located to the right, with a wide plate-glass shop window to the left at ground level, flanked by pilasters and cills. There are two decorative ventilation grilles in the stall riser. To the right of the shop window is a panelled and glazed door, topped with a cornice that extends over both the window and the door. The first floor includes a canted oriel window with a four-pane sash at the front and plate-glass sashes on the sides, along with a dentil cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
