8/72 Farm buildings 8 metres east of - Yeate Farmhouse

GV II

Farm buildings comprising barn, shippon, stables and cartshed with hayloft, granary and threshing floor above. Horse engine house attached on north-east corner. Circa 1800 wing on south remodelled with addition of further barn and horse engine house circa 1830s. Rubble stone with slate roof. Lower gable ends to southern barn. Gable end with hipped end on west of later barn. Earlier barn rectangular in plan, with later L-shaped barn adjoining to north. Horse engine house positioned in obtuse angle. 2 storeys, asymmetrical. West and south fronts with segmental cut stone arches to ground floor openings. West front of earlier range with 3 doors and window to ground floor with door and window above. Square doveholes in groups of 3. West front of later range with cartshed and door. South front with 2 doors on ground floor and 1 above. Horse engine house with polygonal east end. Openings partly blocked. Number of slates missing on roof. Machinery in horse engine house now gone. Included for group value with Yeate Farmhouse (q.v.).
