Description
The Manor House is a town house built in 1768, as indicated by a datestone at the rear, and is located on a site that dates back to the 17th century. The building is constructed of granite ashlar and features a plinth and flat keyed arches. It has a steep asbestos slate roof at the front, adorned with a modillion eaves cornice, while the rear and the rear wings are covered with scantle slate. The deep wing on the left retains many 17th-century crested clay ridge tiles, and the house has a deep plan that includes these rear wings.
The Manor House is designed in a mid-Georgian style and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical five-window front. It likely has original 12-pane hornless sash windows and a central doorcase that is also original, featuring a pediment with eared moulded architrave, pilasters, and consoles. The entrance includes an 8-panel door with an overlight that has three lozenge panes and panelled reveals. The rear wings have wide openings that are spanned by flat arches with projecting keystones. Although the interior was not accessible during the survey, it is reported to retain most of its original features.
