Description
This is a town house, likely dating from the 18th century, built on a 17th-century site. The front is stuccoed over a timber frame, with a dry Delabole slate roof and cast-iron ogee gutters. The building has a deep plan, including a rear wing. It is two storeys high and has a two-window front. The early 19th-century windows are sixteen-pane hornless sash windows with glazing bars. A three-light canted oriel window is on the right-hand side, all set within moulded wooden architraves. The ground floor has an opening on the left with a carved round head connected to a moulded entablature and a fascia over a late 19th-century five-light shop front featuring pilasters and narrow mullions to the segmental-arched windows. A three-panel top-glazed door is located on the left, with a blind overlight above. An iron bar, formerly for a gas lamp, is positioned at a right angle to the front and connects to the Town Hall across the road. The shop interior was altered in the 20th century, and the remainder of the interior has not been inspected.
