Description

This is a mid-18th century town house, now a bank, situated in Penryn. Constructed of granite and killas rubble with dressed granite accents, including round-arched voussoirs for the ground and first-floor window openings, the building is topped with a steep dry Delabole slate roof and projecting front eaves supported by a modillion cornice. The plan includes a rear wing set at a right angle to the rear left. The house is three stories high and has a four-window facade. The windows are predominantly late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes to the second floor, mid-19th century two-pane hornless sashes to the first floor, and 20th-century transomed windows with plain fanlights to the ground floor. A wooden lintel above a tall doorway on the left leads to a pair of three-panel doors with a fielded bottom panel and glazed top panel. The interior was only partially inspected, noting the inner door's design.
