Description
Quarry Cottage is a house that was originally a small house with flanking cottages, likely built in the early 18th century and expanded in the later 18th century. It features painted stone rubble and cob walls, and an asbestos slate roof, which was probably originally thatched. The building has rendered brick stacks over the gable ends and a lateral stack at the rear.
The central part of the house has a two-room plan with a rear stair projection and a front porch. Each of the cottages has a one-room plan with a side entry. The structure is two storeys high, with a two-window front for the central house and a one-window front for each cottage. The house has a central 20th-century top glazed door, while the porch includes a wide shelf or seat on the right, a stone pier on the left, and a lean-to slate roof.
The windows are 20th-century, featuring 12-pane, two-light casements. There are also 20th-century top glazed doors to the right of the left cottage and to the left of the right cottage, with wooden lintels above. Inside, the cottage has open beam ceilings, though the roof structure has not been inspected.
