Description

This is a town house located in Broad Street, Penryn. It was originally built in the 17th century and remodelled in the 18th century. The exterior is constructed of local rubble with flat granite arches at ground floor level, and has a steep dry slate roof. The building follows a double-depth plan, including rear outshuts that are deeper to the rear right. The front elevation is symmetrical and features three windows across two storeys. The windows are predominantly 20th-century tripartite sashes with horns, with a narrower four-pane sash above an 18th-century six-panel door. The door has fielded panels, except for the two top panels which have later glazing. The interior retains 18th-century features, including a closed-string staircase with turned balusters, ovolo-moulded dado panelling in the entrance passage, and two-panel doors with fielded panels to three doors on the first floor. A late 18th-century chimneypiece, originally from another house, is located in the rear right-hand room.
