Description
A terrace of three town houses, built in the 1770s to resemble a large country house. The houses are constructed from roughly-coursed granite rubble with flat arches, and have a hipped roof covered in dry slate. The central section features a triangular pediment with an oculus and a decorative cornice featuring modillions. Brick stacks are located along the axial and rear lines of the buildings. The houses are arranged with a double-depth plan and are in a late Georgian style.
The front has a symmetrical design with a 2:3:2 bay arrangement. The central bays project forward, topped by the pediment. Original or early 19th-century sixteen-pane hornless sash windows are present in numbers 1 and 2; copies have been added to number 3. Number 2 has a central doorway with fluted columns and a moulded entablature featuring dentils and modillions. The other doorways are pilastered, and number 1 has consoles above them. All doorways have a six-panel door with overlights.
The interior of number 1 retains some original features, including a staircase with rectangular balusters. The interiors of the other houses were not inspected.
The property includes forecourt walls with dressed granite plinths and ornate cast-iron railings to number 2; the remaining railings are of wrought iron.
