The Old Mill, with Attached Front Retaining Wall and Railings

The Old Mill is a combined miller's house and watermill, now functioning as a single residence. The miller's house dates from the 18th century, with a later 18th-century stable attached. The mill building likely dates from the mid-19th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features slate roofs, with the house having a slurried finish, gable ends, and gable end stacks with brick shafts. The mill has crested ridge tiles and axial stacks with brick shafts.

The layout includes a double-depth plan under a two-span roof, with principal rooms on the front left and right, each heated by a gable end stack, and a central entrance. The stable is attached to the rear right of the house. The mill is connected at the left end and features two gable ends at the front, with rooms heated from axial stacks and two rooms at the front and rear. A leat runs along the rear of the property.

The exterior of the mill house is two-storey with a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 12-pane sashes with cambered arches, and the first floor has a central 8-pane sash with margin glazing and Gothic glazing bars. There is a central plank door, and the right side has an external stack. The stable is also two-storey, featuring a central stable door and a single light window to the left at ground level, along with a central door to the loft.

The mill to the left is two-storey on a basement, with the two front gable ends displaying mullion and transom windows at both ground and first floors. The right side has 20th-century garage doors leading to the basement, with a similar window at both ground and first floors. The left side features a gable to the left and random 20th-century fenestration, including a 20th-century door to the left.

Attached to the front right of the mill is a rubble retaining wall that rises from the basement level, topped with a range of cast iron railings with knob finials, approximately 15 metres long, set on granite coping stones. The interior has not been inspected.
