Description

Parracombe Mill is a miller's house that includes an attached outbuilding at the east end. It likely dates from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble, with the right gable end partially slate-hung. It features a bitumized slate roof with gable ends and has a stone rubble stack at the left end, which has a tapered cap and drip. The house is slightly cranked and has a room on each side of the entrance hall that contains the staircase. The lofted outbuilding is attached to the left end of the house. The mill building, which has a mill wheel at its gable end, extends at right angles from the rear left end of the house. The structure is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The 20th-century fenestration includes two-light casements with six panes per light and replaced timber lintels. There is a large six-paned window to the right of a 20th-century half-glazed door. The lofted outbuilding extending from the left end has a loft door above double plank doors. Additionally, there is a two-storey outshut at the rear right end of the house. The mill building, extending at right angles from the rear left end, features an outshot mill wheel that is still in working order at its gable end.
